He looks across the crowded floor
and so the search begins
a hunt for someone who is special
has rhythm in her limbs
their eyes have met and she knows
she is the chosen one
she meets him halfway on the floor
now begins the fun
he’ll take one step forward
and she will do the same
he’s happy she can follow
asks her for her name
she gives it to him freely
and he gives her his name too
then he listens to the music
and shows her what to do
she takes his lead and they dance
they go well together
following then challenging
the skills of one another
sometimes the music takes them over
and people stop to stare
a circle forms around the two
they make quite a pair
but then there’s moments
when their rhythm isn’t right
it looks as though they’re falling
but they hold each other tight
sometimes the music goes quite fast
and sometimes it goes slow
but no-matter how it changes
they always seem to know
when to hold each other close
and when to back away
it’s just the way that good friends dance
throughout their lives each day...
